CRASH CLOSES I-64 WESTBOUND IN AUGUSTA COUNTY

STAUNTON – (2:15 p.m.) A crash and cargo spill has closed both westbound lanes of Interstate 64 in Augusta County near mile marker 89. The location is between I-64 exit 91 (Route 285/Fishersville) and the junction of I-81 at exit 87 near Staunton. Incident response teams are currently on the scene to repair guardrail damage and clean up a small spill of hydraulic fluid.

 

The accident took place about 1:10 p.m., and there is no estimate on when the westbound lanes will reopen. Backups are currently two miles, and westbound I-64 motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
