BOTH SOUTHBOUND LANES OPEN ON I-81 IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY
STAUNTON – (11:15 a.m.) Both southbound lanes have reopened on Interstate 81 in Rockingham County. Earlier this morning a dump truck struck the underside of the Route 793 bridge, near mile marker 261 south of New Market. Engineers from the Virginia Department of Transportation have inspected the bridge and determined that it is safe for interstate traffic to pass beneath it.
Route 793 (Concord Church Road) is restricted to single lane at the bridge over I-81, where drivers will be directed to follow a stop-and-proceed traffic pattern.
