ALL I-81 SOUTHBOUND LANES NOW OPEN IN MOUNT JACKSON AREA

STAUNTON – (3:55 p.m.) Both southbound lanes are now open on Interstate 81 at mile marker 272 in the Mount Jackson area of Shenandoah County. A tractor trailer crash occurred shortly before noon today closing both southbound lanes. 

This location is between exit 273 at Route 703 and Route 292 and exit 269 at Route 730.

Tonight crews will return to the crash site, close one lane and begin operations to remove the vehicles.  Removal operations may also be performed tomorrow night, January 14, if crews are unable to complete their work before midnight tonight when winter weather is forecasted to begin.
