YOU ARE INVITED TO SHARE YOUR IDEAS AND COMMENTS ON ROAD, RAIL, TRANSIT PROJECTS AND IMPROVEMENTS
Staunton District Public meeting takes place October 8

STAUNTON, VA - Virginia residents are invited to attend public meetings to be held across the state this fall to learn more about transportation improvements funded in the Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP). The program allocates funding to a wide range of projects, including road, bridges, sidewalks, bike paths, rail and transit improvements across the state.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) is visiting localities throughout Virginia to share information and listen to what residents think about transportation projects. The current program (FY 2015-2020) is being adjusted to transition to a new prioritization process. This process will determine critical transportation priorities through a fair and objective analysis. Following the public comment period, the final revised program will be presented to the CTB for its adoption in November.

Comments are also encouraged on projects and programs to be considered for the next fiscal year’s version (FY 2016-2021) of SYIP, which will be updated for the CTB’s approval next June. Meeting materials will be available at http://www.virginiadot.org/2014fallmeetings beginning Sept. 23.

There will be nine meetings around the state.  The meetings began in September and will continue into October.

The meeting in the Staunton District is on at Blue Ridge Community College, Plecker Center for Continuing Education, One College Lane, Weyers Cave, VA 24486.
