Utility Pole Down Across Roadway

STAUNTON – A downed utility pole has prompted the Virginia Department of Transportation to close part of Route 608 (Draft Avenue) in Augusta County. Power company representatives are working to replace the pole, and expect to have the heavily traveled secondary road back open by 10 a.m.

Emergency crews were called about 4:30 this morning to the scene near the intersection with West High Street (Route 1510) in Stuarts Draft. The utility pole is believed to have fallen due to high winds.
