I-81 SOUTHBOUND IN AUGUSTA COUNTY CLOSED DUE TO TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT
STAUNTON – A tractor-trailer accident in Augusta County has closed both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 208.
Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operation Center operators reported the accident about 4:15 a.m. Wreckers are on the scene, but the southbound lanes will likely remain closed until at least 7:30 a.m.
A detour has been established. Southbound drivers can divert from I-81 at exit 213, travel Route 11 south and re-enter the interstate at exit 205, 200 or 195.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
