For Installation of Overhead Utility Lines

STAUNTON – Motorists should be alert for northbound and southbound “slow roll” lane closures on Sunday morning, November 10, 2013 along Interstate 81 in Rockingham County.

This operation will allow crews to replace overhead utility lines crossing I-81 in the Harrisonburg area.  Traffic will be controlled with a northbound slow roll beginning at exit 240 (Mount Crawford/Bridgewater) and finishing at exit 247 (Route 33). The southbound slow roll will start at exit 247 and finish at exit 240. During the operation, flagging crews will control interstate access at the on-ramps for exits 243 and 245.

The slow roll is scheduled to take place between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and should require 15 minutes or less to complete. The operation will utilize Virginia State Police and variable message boards. All work is weather permitting, and slow-roll times are subject to change.
