ALL LANES OPEN ON INTERSTATE 81 AT HARRISONBURG
Guardrail Repairs from Tractor Trailer Accident Set for Tonight
STAUNTON (1:50 p.m.) – All northbound and southbound lanes of I-81 in Harrisonburg have reopened following an accident and vehicle fire near exit 245 (Port Republic Road).
The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Staunton Traffic Operations Center reported the accident on northbound I-81 shortly before 7 a.m. A tractor trailer and a sport-utility vehicle were involved in the crash, and came to rest in the median.
Crews will return to the site of the accident after 7 p.m. to repair damaged cable barriers. Lane closures will be possible during this operation.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
