RT. 11 BRIDGE REOPENED AT EXIT 175 IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
Right shoulder on I-81 NB will remain closed due to missing guardrail

STAUNTON –  The Virginia Department of Transportation has reopened the Route 11 bridge over Interstate 81 at Exit 175 in Rockbridge County. The bridge was closed early this morning after a tractor-trailer crashed into it. VDOT has inspected the structure and determined that it is safe for traffic.

The exit ramps from I-81 onto Route 11 have also reopened. The right shoulder of northbound I-81 at the bridge will remain closed through the weekend because guardrail that protected that area was damaged in the crash and had to be removed.

For the latest information about traffic conditions check VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site has real-time road conditions and weather forecasts as well as live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 81, Interstate 64 and some primary roads in the Shenandoah Valley.

Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 800-367-ROAD (367-7623) 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
