LANE CLOSURES ON I-81 NORTHBOUND IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY JULY 31 TO AUGUST 2
STAUNTON – Lane closures will occur in Rockbridge County on Interstate 81 northbound from mile marker 195 to mile marker 198 the nights of July 31 and Aug. 1 and 2. This is in the truck climbing lane project area. The closure on July 31 is in addition to previous announced dates.
The right lane will be closed for guardrail modification from mile marker 195 to 198, Tuesday night from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The left lane will be closed to complete bridge deck closure pour from mile marker 195 to 196, Wednesday and Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The I-81 truck climbing lane project valued at $74.2 million was awarded by Commonwealth Transportation Board on Feb. 5, 2009 to W. C. English Inc. of Lynchburg. The work zone is along the northbound lanes from mile marker 195.6 to 202.5, which is just north of Lexington.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
