Crash investigation under way; motorists advised to expect congestion in the area

STAUNTON –  Interstate 81 northbound is closed at Exit 175 in Rockbridge County due to a tractor-trailer crash. The crash, which also involved a bridge over the interstate, is expected to result in a lengthy closure of the northbound lanes.

Northbound traffic is being routed around the crash scene using the access ramps to the bridge. The southbound ramp at Exit 175 is also closed at this time. Motorists are advised to avoid I-81 northbound near Exit 175 and anticipate major delays if they must travel on I-81 in that area. It is not known how long the interstate may be closed.
