TRAFFIC ALERT FOR WEEK OF APRIL 4-8, 2011
Highway work zones in the Staunton District

National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 4-8.  This year’s theme, “Safer driving, Safer Work Zones, For Everyone,” emphasizes the danger that work zones pose not only for VDOT workers and other emergency responders, but for the driving public. VDOT is advancing hundreds of new projects, and drivers across Virginia will encounter work zones in every part of the state. VDOT wants drivers to recognize how important their actions are to keep our work zones safe.  Please visit  www.VirginiaDOT.org  for more information.

The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.
