ROUTE 727 BRIDGE CLOSED IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has closed the Route 727 (Airport Road) Bridge over the North River in Rockingham County. This location is between Route 11 (Lee Highway) and Route 696 (Kisers Road).

Rex Pearce, VDOT Staunton bridge engineer states that a vehicle struck the bridge causing damage to the steel structure.

“We are currently evaluating options for repairs to the structure and it will remain closed until further notice,” says Pearce.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
