STAUNTON – The bridge deck work previously announced for Sept. 9 to Sept 12 at Interstate 81 exit 195 is being delayed due to forecasted inclement weather.  This work is on the southbound I-81 bridge over Route 11 at exit 195 in Rockbridge County.  This is in the Timber Ridge area and north of Lexington and features 24-hour closures over a period of several days for all southbound lanes at this mile marker.

The work is being rescheduled for the weekend of Sept. 23.  The Virginia Department of Transportation will announce the new schedule of all days featuring the closure during the week of Sept. 12.

During the bridge deck work, tractor trailers will remain on I-81 and passenger vehicles will take a detour using the exit 195 off-ramp, cross Route 11 with the assistance of flagger traffic control and then immediately re-enter I-81 using the exit 195 on-ramp.

All work is weather permitting.
