VDOT AWARDS ROUTE 699 PROJECT IN AUGUSTA COUNTY
STAUNTON – On June 7, Virginia Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Gregory A. Whirley approved a contract for Route 699 (Ridge Road) in Augusta County in the VDOT Staunton District. The project will improve driver visibility at the Route 699 and Route 646 intersection in Augusta County.
The $151,126.50 contract was awarded to Plecker Construction Co. of Staunton. The project is located from 0.11-mile west of Route 646 east to Route 646. The Route 646 intersection will be realigned, creating better driver visibility.
The portion of Route 699 to be improved is currently 0.11-mile long with a 16-foot width. The new road will be feature asphalt pavement 18-feet wide with four-foot wide shoulders.
Single lane traffic will be maintained during construction with flagger traffic control. During non-work hours, two-way traffic will be maintained.
Completion is scheduled for November 30, 2010.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
