I-81 SOUTHBOUND REOPENED IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

STAUNTON – (3:10 p.m.) Interstate 81 southbound in Rockingham County is reopened at mile marker 239.  Earlier today a tractor trailer accident had closed both southbound lanes at mile marker 239. Backups on I-81 extended up to six miles. This location is between exit 240 (Route 257) in the Mount Crawford/Bridgewater are and exit 235 (Route 256) in the Weyers Cave/Blue Ridge Community College area.

Motorists should drive with caution and expect delays in this area as traffic congestion clears.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
