Eastbound Lanes Now Open
LANES CLOSE ON I-64 AT AFTON MOUNTAIN DUE TO ACCIDENT
STAUNTON – (8:05 p.m.) An accident on Interstate 64 on Afton Mountain has closed both westbound lanes. The accident happened prior to 6 p.m. closing both eastbound and westbound lanes for a period of time. The accident is near mile marker 98 in Augusta County. This location is between exit 99 at Route 250 and exit 96 at Route 624 in the Lyndhurst area near Waynesboro.
Traffic westbound is backed up approximately three miles, but is getting through the area on the westbound right shoulder.
Emergency workers are on the scene but there is no estimate as to when the lanes will reopen.
Motorists should expect significant delays in this area.
