MOTORISTS SHOULD EXPECT DELAYS ON I-81 NORTHBOUND NORTH OF STAUNTON


STAUNTON – Backups equaling approximately five miles on Interstate 81 northbound at mile marker 229.9 are occurring due to a vehicle accident. This location is between exit 227 at Route 612 in Verona and exit 235 at Route 256 in the Weyers Cave area. The northbound left lane is closed at the accident site.

No estimate for reopening the lane has been provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operations Center.

Motorists should drive with caution and expect delays in this area.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
