I-81 BRUSH FIRE CLOSES ONE SOUTHBOUND LANE IN AUGUTSA COUNTY

STAUNTON – A series of small brush fires in the area of mile marker 230 on Interstate 81 in Augusta County has caused the right southbound lane to be closed in this location. As of 3:15 p.m. today there was a five mile back up in this area.
This location is between exit 227 at Route 612 in Verona and exit 235 at Route 256 in Weyers Cave.

As a result of the brush fires in this area, Route 616 (Fort Defiance Road) is also closed near Route 11.
Motorists should use extreme caution when traveling through this area and expect delays.
