GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY TO BE HELD FOR I-81 TRUCK CLIMBING LANES IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will host a groundbreaking event to mark the beginning of construction on the Interstate 81 truck climbing lane project in Rockbridge County. This event will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 and is open to the public.
Due to limited parking at the event site, citizens, guests and speakers are requested to meet at Lowe’s parking lot (1255 North Lee Highway, Lexington, VA) and will be bused to the ceremony. Rotating shuttles will be available from at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The groundbreaking ceremony will have several scheduled speakers including Virginia Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer, Congressman Bob Goodlatte, Senator Emmett Hanger, Delegate Ben Cline, Virginia State Police Superintendent Colonel W. Steven Flaherty, Virginia Trucking Association President and CEO Dale Bennett, Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors Member Carroll Comstock and Lexington City Council Member David Cox.
