Winter Weather Expected To Bring Icy Road Conditions Across Much of the State
VDOT crews and equipment mobilized where necessary

RICHMOND - Winter weather is expected to impact the western, central and northern regions of Virginia tonight and into tomorrow morning.  Motorists should watch for slick and icy conditions, particularly on bridges, overpasses and shady areas.

Snow is forecasted for the Bristol and western Salem regions and much of the Shenandoah Valley, as well as portions of the Lynchburg, Culpeper, northern Virginia and Fredericksburg regions.  Rain is expected in Richmond, Hampton Roads and eastern Fredericksburg.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are monitoring weather conditions and are treating roads as needed to keep driving conditions as safe as possible.

As temperatures drop to below freezing overnight, wet pavement will freeze making for slick driving conditions tonight and tomorrow morning.

VDOT advises motorists to call 511 or visit www.511virginia.org  to get the latest road conditions before heading out the door.
