VDOT RESPONDS TO INCREASED DEMAND FOR E-ZPASS IN HAMPTON ROADS
RICHMOND — Due to increased demand for E-ZPass transponders in Hampton Roads, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) experienced heavy traffic volume on its E-ZPass Virginia website (EZPassVA.com) resulting in delayed site functions. VDOT has taken measures to increase capacity and the site is currently functioning properly.
Additionally, VDOT today announced plans to make signing up for E-ZPass more convenient for Hampton Roads residents.
The E-ZPass Customer Service Centers in Norfolk and Portsmouth will extend hours to weekends beginning Saturday, Jan. 4, to accommodate increased demand for E-ZPass transponders.

Customer service representatives will begin staffing the toll-free E-ZPass Customer Service Center line at 1-877-762-7824 on weekends starting Saturday, Jan. 4.
Additionally, Elizabeth River Crossings today announced it has extended its “Five Free Trips” offer at the Elizabeth River Tunnels until Monday, Jan. 13. Hampton Roads residents who acquire a new Virginia E-ZPass transponder (on a new or pre-existing E-ZPass account) by Jan. 13, 2014 will receive five free trips for use at the Downtown or Midtown tunnels. The free trips must be used by June 30, 2014.
