Public meeting to be held Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at JEJ Moore Middle School

RICHMOND - The first of two public meetings of the U.S. Route 460 Corridor Improvements Project’s Independent Review Panel (IRP) will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010. 

The 11-member panel, appointed in November by Secretary of Transportation Sean T. Connaughton and chaired by the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) Chief Deputy Commissioner Charlie Kilpatrick, P.E., will evaluate three private-sector proposals submitted to build a new Route 460 between Petersburg and Suffolk.

The meeting will start at 5 p.m. at JEJ Moore Middle School at 11455 Prince George Drive in Disputanta. The meeting is open to the public.

At this first meeting, the teams, 460 Partners, Inc., Multimodal Solutions LLC,and Cintra Infraestructuras S.A.U will make presentations about their proposals. 

Each offeror team will provide an oral presentation to the IRP regarding the project and its conceptual proposal. 

After each presentation, the IRP will conduct a question and answer session with the team.

Additionally, citizens will be provided an opportunity to review project information and may present comments about the proposals for the IRP members’ consideration. The public comment period will begin at 7 p.m.

The three proposals will be evaluated based on the evaluation and selection criteria outlined in VDOT’s solicitation for proposals. The panel will make recommendations to VDOT’s commissioner and the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) on the feasibility of the three proposals in early 2011.

The second meeting is scheduled and will be open to the public. The Jan. 6, 2011, meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at Windsor High School at 24 Church Street in Windsor. Visit the project website at for additional details.
