VDOT TO HOLD HEARING ON ROUTE 419 PROJECT AT TANGLEWOOD IN ROANOKE COUNTY
Project will add a southbound lane to Route 419 between Ogden Road and Route 220
SALEM — On Thursday, January 25, from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a design public hearing to discuss a $5.8-million safety improvement project on Route 419 (Electric Road) between Route 867 (Ogden Road) and Route 220 at Tanglewood in Roanoke County.
The hearing will be held at Cave Spring Middle School located at 4880 Brambleton Avenue in Cave Spring.
This project will add a third lane to southbound Route 419 from Ogden Road to Route 220 that will tie into the existing on ramp for southbound Route 220. Sidewalks and bike lanes will be added on both sides of Route 419 where feasible, and the signals also will be upgraded to allow for crosswalks and pedestrian accommodations.
The project also includes combining the bus stops along southbound Route 419 into one major stop with a public bus shelter in front of Copper Croft Apartments.
The design public hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give input on the project and will be held in an “open-house” format. VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the project and answer questions.
Comments about the project may be submitted at the hearing or until February 4, 2018, by mail to Mr. Brian Becker PE, Virginia Department of Transportation, 731 Harrison Avenue, Salem, VA 24153. E-mail comments can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please reference “Route 419 Safety Improvements – Roanoke County” in the subject heading.
