VDOT HOLDS “PARDON OUR DUST” INFORMATION MEETING FOR SECOND PHASE OF 10th STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN ROANOKE
VDOT and contractor prepare to begin construction
SALEM —The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a “Pardon Our Dust” public information meeting for road construction that is beginning on the second phase of improvements on 10th Street in the City of Roanoke. The second phase of work will improve 10th Street between Williamson Road and Andrews Road.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 17, at Villages at Lincoln Community Center located at 1801 Dunbar Street, NW, in Roanoke from 5 to 7 p.m. A brief presentation will be given at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
Representatives from VDOT and the contractor, Fielder’s Choice Enterprises, will be present to answer questions about the project, potential traffic impacts and the schedule of construction in an open-house format throughout the evening.
The $10.7-million project to improve traffic flow and safety for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists along 10th Street from Andrews Road to Williamson Road. Work will include reconstructing the two travel lanes and providing bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks.
Construction is expected to be underway in this spring and completed in fall 2019.

This project is the second of two phases for improvements to 10th Street. Work on the first phase, a $12-million project from south of Fairfax Avenue to just north of Andrews Road, began in summer 2016 and is anticipated to be completed in summer 2018.
