TRAFFIC ALERT: ROUTE 8 TO CLOSE THIS WEEKEND IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY
SALEM - As part of the left turn lane construction project on Route 8 in the Riner area of Montgomery County, a section of Route 8 will be closed for a culvert replacement during this weekend.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 28 through Monday, May 1 at 5 a.m., a 500-foot section of Route 8 between Carriage Road and Union Valley Road will be closed. Access to areas at either end of the closure will be accessible by using alternate routes. A detour will be in place through Fairview Church Road and Cloverlea Drive and signs will be posted to assist drivers in the area.
Following the closure, construction on Route 8 will continue and drivers can expect various lane closures Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and flagging operations Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the work zone area and be aware of construction equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
The project is expected to be completed in September 2017.
