VDOT HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON ROUTE 122 GOOSE CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT IN BEDFORD COUNTY

SALEM — On Wednesday, August 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a design public hearing to discuss a proposed project to replace the Route 122 bridge over Goose Creek in Bedford County. The bridge is located just south of Route 801 (Stony Fork Road) and 1.7 miles south of Route 122’s intersection with Route 24.

The hearing will be held at the Moneta/Smith Mountain Lake Library located at 13541 Moneta Road in Moneta.

The primary purpose of this project is to replace the aging Route 122 bridge which was built in 1938.

The design public hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give input on the proposed bridge replacement.  VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the project and to answer questions.

Comments about the project may be submitted at the meeting or until August 13, 2016, by mail to Mr. Jesse Weitzenfeld, Virginia Department of Transportation, 731 Harrison Avenue, Salem, VA 24153.  E-mail comments can be sent to saleminfo@VDOT.virginia.gov.  Please reference “Route 122 Goose Creek Bridge Public Comment” in the subject heading.
