TRAFFIC ALERT: VDOT PROJECTS ON ROUTE 311, VALLEY VIEW AND 10TH STREET SCHEDULED TO IMPACT TRAFFIC IN ROANOKE THIS WEEK
SALEM – As part of summer work activities, VDOT will be working in the following areas within Roanoke beginning this week.
ROUTE 311 PAVING
Alternating lane closures will be in place on a section of Route 311 Roanoke County from Route 419 (North Electric Road) to Route 765 (Janee Drive) for milling and paving operations beginning June 30, 2016. Work will be performed during nighttime hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, Sunday through Thursday nights. Estimated completion is July.
INTERSTATE 581 VALLEY VIEW
On Monday, June 27, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, a double right lane closure will be in place on I-581 northbound at the Valley View Boulevard exit for bridge painting.
Work is underway on the 10th Street Improvement project. Beginning Monday, June 27, a section of 10th Street will be closed to through traffic from Fairfax Avenue to Orange Avenue for replacement of water and sewer lines. Message signs have been placed on Orange Avenue advising motorists of the scheduled closure. Detour signs will be in place directing traffic around the closure. Local traffic will have access to 10th street. This work is expected to take several weeks to complete.
