TRAFFIC ALERT: SOUTHGATE DRIVE CLOSURE PLANNED FOR NEXT WEEK AT VIRGINIA TECH

SALEM – As part of the ongoing Route 460 Southgate Connector project, a Southgate Drive closure is planned for next week due to two drainage pipes to be installed.

Starting Monday, May 23, Southgate Drive between Route 460 and Beamer Way will be reduced to one lane, and flaggers will control traffic from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Southgate Drive will be closed for several days while crews work around the clock to install two drainage pipes.  During the closure, drivers will need to use Prices Fork Road to enter the Virginia Tech campus.

Southgate Drive is estimated to reopen on Friday, May 27, but it could be later due to weather or slower progress on excavating rock for the pipe installations.
