TRAFFIC ALERT: ROUTE 622 (EVERETT ROAD) BRIDGE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS IN BEDFORD COUNTY

SALEM – The Route 622 (Everett Road) bridge over the railroad tracks in Bedford County near Forest is closed to traffic due to emergency repairs.

The bridge is located off Route 221 approximately 1.3 miles west of Route 785 (Summer Fields Lane) and about one mile east of Route 666 (Elkton Farm Road).

Motorists will need to seek alternate routes.

No estimated time for reopening the bridge has been established, but it is expected to be a long-term closure.

UPDATE:  As of July 1, VDOT has ordered steel bridge beams and timber stringers to make repairs to the bridge.  Based on estimated delivery, repairs can be made and bridge reopened to traffic sometime in mid- to late August.
