TRAFFIC ALERT: REPAIR WORK ON ROUTE 460 IN GILES COUNTY TO DELAY TRAFFIC STARTING MAY 31

SALEM – Repairs to a collapsed retaining wall on Route 460 in Giles County will create additional delays for drivers starting Tuesday, May 31.

Since May 24, the left eastbound and left westbound lane of Route 460 in the area known as “the bluffs” between Narrows and Rich Creek, about four miles east of the West Virginia state line, have been closed due to the collapsed wall.

Weather permitting, repairs will begin on Tuesday, May 31.  During the repairs, both westbound lanes of Route 460 and the eastbound left lane will be closed.

All Route 460 traffic between Route 61 and Route 219 will alternate using the one open eastbound right lane.  Flaggers and pilot trucks will control traffic around the clock, and drivers should expect delays and use caution.

Work is expected to take approximately two weeks with Route 460 reopening in early to mid-June, weather permitting.
