Possibility of snow and slick roads in our area overnight

SALEM – With the possibility of snow arriving in our area in the early morning hours Sunday, January 17, Virginia Department of Transportation snow plow operators and contractors are on alert and prepared to plow and treat roads as necessary.

Patches of ice are possible this evening on roadways as temperatures drop and operators will be monitoring roads overnight and respond accordingly. Drivers should be alert to possible slick roads particularly in the higher elevations and along the western mountain slopes.

Motorists are encouraged to get real-time traffic information and road conditions for Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system.
