SALEM DISTRICT: SNOW ON ROADS IN PARTS OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA
SALEM – Early morning snow showers passing through parts of southwest Virginia have created some snow covered roads particularly in the higher elevations and along the western slopes and in the New River Valley.
VDOT crews are currently monitoring and treating roadways and will continue to monitor and address road conditions throughout the day. Some of the affected areas include Craig, Botetourt and Bent Mountain in Roanoke County as well as portions of Pulaski and Montgomery County.
Drivers should use extra caution on roadways in these areas and particularly on bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces which may produce icy conditions.
Traffic and road condition information can be obtained by dialing 511 or visiting www.511Virginia.org
The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
