VDOT HOLDS PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON INTERSTATE 77 IN CARROLL COUNTY
SALEM—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public information meeting to discuss the active traffic management system (ATSMS) being installed on Interstate 77, northbound and southbound, between mile markers marker 0 at the North Carolina state line and extends to mile marker 12 in Carroll County.
The primary purpose of the project is to improve safety during low visibility conditions on Fancy Gap Mountain. The ATSMS includes variable speed limit signs, roadway weather information systems, traffic cameras and electronic message boards.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carroll County High School located at 100 Cavs Lane, Hillsville, Virginia 24343. A formal presentation about the project will be given at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
In addition, VDOT representatives will be present to answer questions about the project in an open house format throughout the evening.
