TRAFFIC ALERT: UTILITY LINE RELOCATION TO CAUSE BRIEF DELAYS OFF INTERSTATE 81 AT EXIT 150 IN BOTETOURT COUNTY

SALEM – Work to relocate a phone line will briefly impact traffic tonight at Interstate 81’s exit 150 (Troutville) in Botetourt County.

Two five minute closures are scheduled to string a phone line across traffic lanes at two separate locations.  Both closures are planned sometime between 10 and 11 p.m. Flaggers will be controlling traffic during the short closures.

The first closure will impact northbound and southbound Route 11 just north of the intersection of Route 11, Route 220 and Route 220 Alternate.   All lanes of northbound and southbound Route 11 and turn lanes to and from Route 11 approaching the intersection will be closed for about five minutes.

The second closure will impact the exit 150B ramp leading from northbound I-81 onto Route 11.  Motorists can expect traffic to be stopped briefly on the ramp.

The phone line relocation is being performed by a utility company in advance of an upcoming construction project to improve traffic flow around exit 150.

Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to the short-term closures.
