TRAFFIC ALERT: LANE CLOSURES PLANNED ON ROUTE 11 IN BOTETOURT COUNTY

SALEM – Starting next week, road crews will be performing drilling operations to make test borings on a bridge over Beckner Branch on Route 11 (Lee Highway) in Botetourt County. The bridge is located on Route 11 (Lee Highway) between the intersections of Route 641 (Oak Ridge Road) and Route 800 (Arch Mill Road) approximately six miles south of Buchanan beginning just north of the Route 11 (Lee Highway) bridge over Interstate 81.

Weather permitting, alternating lane closures northbound and southbound will be in effect on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 30. These dates are tentative and could be adjusted depending on weather and work schedule.

Drivers should use caution, watch for changing traffic patterns, and expect delays. Flaggers may control traffic.

The test borings are needed to develop plans for a future bridge replacement.
