TRAFFIC ALERT: DETOUR AND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR PAVING OPERATIONS ON ELM AVENUE

SALEM – As part of the Interstate 581 and Elm Avenue interchange project in Roanoke, there are ramp and lane closures scheduled next week for a paving operation.

From Sunday, June 7, to Saturday, June 13, a detour will be in place each night from I-581/220 northbound onto and over the ramps at Elm Avenue to return to I-581/220 northbound will be in place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning for bridge work on Elm Avenue. Right and left lane closures on I-581 will be in place through the week from 6 a.m. in the morning until 10 p.m. at night for paving. Drivers will need to pay close attention to message boards and construction signs in the work zone as they travel in this area.

This work is weather and work schedule permitting. Drivers should expect delays or seek alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to use caution as they travel through the work zone.
