TRAFFIC ALERT: NIGHTTIME DETOURS PLANNED AT EXIT 94 FOR NORTHBOUND INTERSTATE 81 AND ROUTE 99 IN PULASKI COUNTY

SALEM – Weather permitting, bridge work on Interstate 81 in Pulaski County will require three nighttime detours next week.  The detours will affect northbound I-81 traffic traveling to and from Route 99 at exit 94 (Pulaski).

During the detours, Route 99 traffic will not be able to enter northbound I-81 and northbound I-81 traffic will not be able to exit onto Route 99.  Southbound I-81 access to and from Route 99 will not be affected.

Each detour will be in place starting at approximately 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, Thursday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 30.    Each detour will last until approximately 10 a.m. the following morning.

When the detours are in place, northbound I-81 traffic can use exit 92 (Draper) and take the service road to reach Route 99.  Route 99 traffic can access northbound I-81 by following detours signs to exit 98 (Dublin).

Work crews will be pouring concrete as part of replacing the riding surface on the bridge over Route 99 and the bridge over the New River Trail.

These detours dates are weather dependent and times are approximate. Each detour must remain in place until concrete sets.
