SALEM — The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing for a proposed project to replace the Route 668 (Goode Road) bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Bedford County.  The bridge is located in the Goode area, 0.27 mile north of Route 702 (Prophet Road) and 0.36 mile south of Route 840 (Pilgrim Road).

The current bridge was built in 1932.   It is a one-lane, three-span steel girder bridge with wooden floor beams.   The proposed two-lane bridge will be a three-span steel girder bridge with a concrete deck and rail.

The hearing will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Goode Volunteer Rescue Squad located at 9261 Forest Road in Goode.

This hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give VDOT input on the proposed project.  The hearing will be held in an open-house format with no formal presentation given.  VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the proposed project and to answer questions.
