TRAFFIC ALERT: WEEKEND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR INTERSTATE 81 IN ROANOKE COUNTY

SALEM – Weather permitting, lane closures are planned for north and southbound Interstate 81 near mile marker 133 for deck repairs to the bridge over Route 927 (Glenvar Heights Road).

• Northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, to noon Saturday, May 31.

• Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane from 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, to 8 a.m. Sunday, June 1.

Signs and message boards will be in place to alert drivers. Law enforcement will assist with traffic control.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the area and to expect delays.

This work is part of an ongoing maintenance project to repair the shoulders and bridge at mile marker 133. Work is expected to be complete in September.
