TRAFFIC ALERT: SLOW ROLL LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR ELM AVENUE IN ROANOKE SUNDAY NIGHT

SALEM – As part of the Interstate 581 and Elm Avenue interchange project in Roanoke, nighttime slow roll lane closures will take place on north and southbound I-581 Sunday, Sept. 21.

The slow rolls will begin after 10 p.m. near Elm Avenue as the contractor moves equipment into place to begin constructing the center portion of the Elm Avenue bridge.

During a slow roll, law enforcement will slow and possibly stop traffic as the equipment is being moved. Each slow roll is anticipated to last approximately 20 minutes.

This work is weather and work schedule permitting. Drivers are encouraged to watch for signs and message boards and to use caution as they travel through the work zone.
