SALEM – As part of the road construction project to widen an 8.2-mile section of Route 58 that passes through Patrick, Floyd and Carroll counties, Route 653 (Dust Trail Road) in Carroll County will be closed beginning Wednesday, May 28.

Weather permitting, Route 653 will be closed to through traffic at the intersection of Route 58. Residents can access Route 58 via route 654 (Laurel Fork Road). This closure is expected to remain in place until September.

This location is referred to as the Tri-County (3.2 miles) and Laurel Fork (5 miles) sections of Route 58.  Work is being completed under a Public-Private Transportation Act agreement.

Work on the entire 8.2-mile section is expected to be completed by fall 2015.
