TRAFFIC ALERT: TRAFFIC DETOUR SCHEDULED FOR ROUTE 672 (ETZLER ROAD) IN BOTETOURT COUNTY

SALEM – Beginning on Saturday, June 14, a section of Route 672 (Etzler Road) in Botetourt County will be closed to traffic as part of a road project to realign Route 672’s intersection with Route 779 (Catawba Road).  The road is expected to reopen by July 20.

The section of Route 672 starts at its intersection with Route 779 and extends about 0.2 mile.

Signs will be posted to advise motorists of detour routes.

From northbound Route 220, drivers should turn left onto Route 665 (Country Club Road), turn left onto Route 630 (Blacksburg Road) and then turn left onto Route 672.

Drivers on southbound Route 779 should turn left onto Route 630 and then turn right to return to Route 672.

Work on the $4.7-million project includes realigning the intersection of Route 672 and Route 779, constructing a new right turn lane from Route 779 onto Route 672,  constructing a new left turn lane from Route 779 onto Route 672 and upgrading the drainage structures on Route 779 near this intersection.

The project is expected to be completed by fall 2014.
