TRAFFIC ALERT: SOUTHBOUND ROUTE 220 CLOSED IN ROANOKE COUNTY AT ROUTE 419 EXIT

SALEM – In Roanoke County, southbound Route 220 is closed between Route 419 (Electric Road) and Southern Lane.  In addition, the ramp leading from southbound Route 419 onto southbound Route 220 is closed.  These closures were put in place due to instability of a slope on a nearby development.

Traffic is being detoured off of southbound Route 220 around the closure.  From the southbound Route 220 off ramp, traffic will turn right onto northbound Route 419.  At the fourth signalized intersection, detoured traffic will turn left onto Route 904 (Starkey Road) and then turn left onto Route 679 (Buck Mountain Road) to return to Route 220.

No estimated time for reopening southbound Route 220 has been established at this time.
