SALEM DISTRICT: COMMUTERS SHOULD WATCH FOR ICY SPOTS, PARTICULARLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES
Some roads and bridges were treated last night
SALEM – Snow showers that passed through southwestern Virginia last night have created slick spots on roads and bridges in some counties, particularly in New River Valley.
Drivers in the higher elevations and in Montgomery, Giles and Pulaski counties should use extra caution this morning, particularly on bridges, overpasses and in other cooler areas where slick spots may have formed overnight.
Traffic and road condition information can be obtained by dialing 511 or visiting 511Virginia.org.
The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
Citizens are reminded that they can report downed trees on state-maintained roads to VDOT’s customer service center at 1-800-367-7623.
