TRAFFIC ALERT: INTERSTATE 581 RAMPS IN ROANOKE REOPEN AFTER FLOOD WATERS RECEDE

SALEM – Flooding closed two ramps on Interstate 581 earlier tonight, but both ramps are now open.  

The ramp leading from southbound Interstate 581 onto Orange Avenue at exit 4W reopened around 10:30 p.m.  The exit 5 ramp leading to downtown Roanoke reopened to traffic just before 11 p.m.

With road conditions constantly changing, citizens are reminded that VDOT provides the most up-to-date information available about flooded roads at www.511Virginia.org.  To access the list of flooded roads, look for the text views section of the site and search under road conditions.

To report downed trees or debris on state maintained roads, please contact VDOT’s customer service center at 1-800-367-7623.  For emergencies, dial 911.
