SALEM DISTRICT: DRIVERS CAUTIONED TO WATCH FOR SLICK ROADS AS SNOW SHOWERS PASS THROUGH SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA

SALEM – As snow showers pass through southwestern Virginia this afternoon and into the evening, crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation and its contractors have been mobilized to plow and treat roads.   Equipment operators will continue to monitor conditions and respond as necessary this evening.

Drivers are cautioned that some roads, particularly in the higher elevations and in the western counties along the West Virginia border and in the New River Valley, may be snow covered and slick.  Motorists should be alert to changing conditions.

Drivers can find latest road conditions before travelling on 511 Virginia at www.511Virginia.org.
