TRAFFIC ALERT: ADDITIONAL BLASTING SCHEDULED FOR I-77 IN CARROLL COUNTY

SALEM – A project is currently under way on northbound Interstate 77 in Carroll County to remove rocks along a slope between mile markers 2 and 4.

Beginning Thursday, July 12, blasting will occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. to assist in the rock removal. Rolling road blocks will be in place at 12:30 p.m. in the northbound and southbound lanes of I-77 between mile markers 2 and 4. Traffic is expected to be impacted until approximately 3 p.m. each day.

A lane closure on northbound I-77 reducing this three lane section of I-77 to two lanes is currently in place. A concrete barrier wall has been installed.

Dates and times for blasting are tentative and could be adjusted due to weather or work schedule.

Work on this project is scheduled to be completed by September 2012.
