TRAFFIC ALERT: ROAD WORK TO CLOSE TWO ROUTES IN BEDFORD COUNTY TO THROUGH TRAFFIC

SALEM – Beginning Monday, June 18, two roads in Bedford County will be closed to through traffic due to road work.

First, a section of Route 731 (Dowdy Crossing) in the Huddleston area will be closed for replacement of the bridge over Crab Orchard Creek.  The bridge is located on Route 731 approximately 0.7 mile south of its intersection with Route 727 (Crab Orchard Road).  Route 731 is estimated to reopen on Friday, June 22.

Second, a section of Route 734 (Dundee Road) will be closed to through traffic, so crews can replace a pipe in the branch of Carter Mill Creek beneath Route 734.  The work zone will be located between Route 732 and Route 608 near Huddleston.  Route 734 is estimated to reopen in mid-July.

Detour signs will be posted advising motorists of alternate routes at both these work locations.

Drivers should advised use caution and expect delays.
