TRAFFIC ALERT: RAILROAD CROSSINGS IN FRANKLIN COUNTY TO CLOSE FOR REPAIRS

SALEM – Beginning Monday, Sept. 10, railroad crews will repair several railroad crossings in Franklin County.  

Weather permitting, the work will begin in the Boones Mill area at approximately 7 a.m. and crews will move from one railroad crossing to the next throughout the day, working north toward Roanoke. The crossings will be repaired in the order listed.

• Route 1612 (Terrace Road)
• Route 1604 (Church Hill Road)
• Route 1611 (Winding Way Road)
• Route 824 (Murray Knob Road)

Due to the nature of the work being performed, the railroad crossings will be closed for approximately two hours each as repairs take place.

There will be no posted detours. Drivers should seek an alternate route.
